Charles H. Bender, 82 of Chippewa Township died April 15, 2008 in Friendship Ridge, Brighton Township.

Born June 8, 1925 in Beaver Falls, was the son of the late Edward H. & Myrtle (Roush) Bender, He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the U.S.S. Cowpens (CVL-25), which was the first carrier in Tokyo Bay, during WWII.  60 years member of the Local Union #712 IBEW, Beaver, retiring as a Journeymen Electrician.  After his retirement he worked for Snyder Florist in Beaver, and at the time of his death he worked at Beaver County Chrysler in Chippewa, was a member of the Chippewa United Methodist Church, Member of the Highland VFW Post #5945, and the Beaver Falls, American Legion, Post 261.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth G. ( Thompson) Bender, whom he married September 15, 1948; a son and daughter-in-law; Glen & Marilyn Bender, Chippewa Township, two grandsons Cody William & Kyle Edward Bender, Chippewa Township; and his extended family of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, numerous niece & nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Sherrie Ellen Bender, on January 7, 1975; a brother Edward Eugene Bender, and a sister Shirley Boyer.

Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Hill & Kunselman funeral home, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801-4th Avenue, College Hill, Beaver Falls, PA 15010, where a service will be conducted Friday at 12:00 Noon, with his pastor Rev. Rodney E. Smith, officiating.

Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver Boro.

The Beaver Falls American Legion will conduct a service Thursday at 7:30PM in the Funeral Home.

The Veteran’s Honor Guard will meet at the cemetery on Friday at 12:45 PM at the cemetery to conduct full military rites.
