Dempsey B. Prunty, 89, of Beaver Falls, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 in the Medical Center Beaver.
Born July 4, 1919 in Doddridge County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Jesse and Sarah Starkey Prunty. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He had been employed by the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Company in the storeroom in Koppel before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Ida L. Prunty, a son and daughter-in-law Ronald and Marie Johnston, Daugherty Township, two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryll and Robert Lipan, Snailville, GA, Diane “Dee” and Larry Rhodes, Daugherty Township, six grandchildren and their spouses, Greg Bieselt, New Brighton, Kendall Bieselt, Pittsburgh, Kara Johnston Smith and her husband Jamie, Patterson Heights, Michael Johnston and his wife Chelsea, Patterson Township, Amber Rhodes Null and her husband Charles, California, PA, Adrian Rhodes Huber and her husband Jeremy, Cortland, OH, and one great-grandson Alan Michael Johnston.
As per his wishes, there will not be a visitation or a memorial service.
Interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
