Edward “Boppy” L. Mennell, 91, formerly of Big Beaver Boro died Tuesday June 30, 2009 in Friendship Ride, Brighton Township.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Born June 29, 1918 in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Lester F. & Marie C. ( Herter) Mennell, He was a US Army veteran of WWII , worked for his uncle at the Arthur Mennell machine shop from 1944-1958, an as a machinist from 1957-1987 for McDaniel’s Refectory; He was a 66 year member of Union Lodge #259 F & AM, New Brighton and New Castle Consistory; member of the First Primitive Methodist Church; and he enjoyed tinkering around his house.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mildred R. ( McBrien) Mennell on February 6, 2005.
He is survived by a daughter Connie Baker, Big Beaver; a son & daughter-in-law, Dale E. & Laurine Mennell, Villages, FL; six grandchildren, Brien Mennell; Matthew & Shawn Baker; Jennifer & Roy Van Buskirk; Heather Reyes; and Shannon & Kevin Goodwin; 7 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Angela, Marissa, Justine, Ty, Elle, and Francesca. Brother and sister-in-law, Robert & Alice Mennell, Chapel Hill, NC; 2 nephews and a niece; Robert, Tommy, and Bonnie.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801-4th Avenue, College Hill, Beaver Falls, PA 15010, where a service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. R. George Snyder officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made if desired to a charity of choice.
Private interment will follow in Concord Cemetery, North Sewickley Township.
Members of Union Lodge #259 F & AM will conduct a service Thursday at 7:00 PM
