Elaine F. DeSanzo Buzzelli, 88, a lifelong resident of Homewood, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 in the Medical Center Beaver.
Born Nov. 17, 1919 in Homewood, she was the daughter of the late William and Elvira Carlini DeSanzo. She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, had been the Postmistress of the Homewood Post Office for 44 years. She had been a member of the Homewood Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, secretary - treasurer of the Homewood Heritage Foundation, she was the tax collector in Homewood since 1966, and secretary-treasurer of the Homewood Boro Council since 1966.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Rudolph DeSanzo in 1981, and an infant son William Buzzelli.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Loree Clark, Homewood, Carole and Dr. Jay L. Funkhouser, New Brighton, four grandchildren, Autumn Clark, Crested Butte, Colorado, Liza and David Brady, University Heights, OH, Lorraine Funkhouser, Redlands, California, Jay L. III and Leigha Funkhouser, New Brighton, five great-grandchildren, Maggie and Charlie Brady, Devin Mammone, Jay L. Funkhouser III, and Alisa Funkhouser, a sister and brother-in-law, Stella and Carmen, Rush, NY, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Ann DeSanzo, Alfred and Lillian DeSanzo, all of Homewood, and a special thank you for their loving friendship and support; Alan and Sandy DeSanzo, Mary Alice and Howard Jones, Kristine Usselman, Joe Leonardo, Mary Kay Evans, Mary and Joe Buzzelli, the critical care nurses at the Medical Center and the Rev. Donald MacNeil.
Friends will be received on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801-4th Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where prayers will be recited on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Father Steven M. Palsa as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Chippewa Township.
