Eugene N. DeSimone, 92, of Beaver Falls, died Thursday, April 22, 2010
in Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born June 29, 1917 in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Dominick and Rosina DePasquale DeSimone. He had retired from the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Company personnel department with 33 years of service. He was an active member of the Divine Mercy Parish and would have been inducted into the Divine Mercy Hall. He will be inducted posthumously into the Hall of Fame in June of this year. He was an usher and a lector for many years at his parish. He was the announcer for over 20 years for the Beaver Falls Fighting Tigers football games, had been an extra in numerous movies filmed in and around Pittsburgh, an actor in the Comtra Theater and the Red Barn Theater. He was a member of the Beaver Falls City Council for 8 years and a member of the Big Beaver Falls Area School Board for 12 years. He had been a member of the Beaver Valley Club of Retired Persons and had also volunteered every month for Senior Citizens Day at the Beaver Valley Mall.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Eugene L. “Skipper” DeSimone on Nov. 17, 2006, a granddaughter Terri DeSimone, a brother Joseph DeSimone,
three sisters, Helen DeSimone, Mary DeMarco, and Rosetta Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen S. Reda DeSimone, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis S. and June DeSimone, New Brighton, Thomas J. and Sandra DeSimone, Modesto, CA, two daughters, Helen Ann DeSimone, Beaver Falls, Marie R. DeSimone, Minneapolis, MN, two sisters, Nicoletta Mannerino, Collierville, TN, Doloros Basile, New Sewickley Township,
four grandchildren and their spouses, Julie and Vincent Rowell, Christopher and Christine Caulkins, Anthony and Kerry Pritchard, Timothy Pritchard, and 8 great-grandchildren.
There will be no public visitation.
There will be a Blessing Service for the family conducted in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801-4th Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, with Rev. Father James B. Farnan officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
