Fred L. Goddard, 85, of Friendship Ridge, Brighton Township, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, surrounded by his family. Born Nov. 15, 1921, in Charleston, W.Va., he was a son of the late Charles and Nancy Ann Kinder Goddard. He was a member of the Beaver Assembly of God Church in Brighton Township. He had retired from the Republic Steel Company, where he had been a weighman, and was a member of the Beaver Falls American Legion Post 261. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army, Company A, Railway Shop Battalion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Clara Sallmen Goddard, on Feb. 11, 2007; six brothers, infant Charles, Ernest, Lloyd, James, Clifford and Lester Goddard; five sisters, Edith Zachewicz, Ida Merriman, Dorothy Statton, Emma Thatcher and Ruth Emmel, and a foster brother, Joseph Smith.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Sharon Goddard, Mossyrock, Wash.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwendolyn and William Beatty, Rochester, and Donnalyn and Walter Kelly, Brighton Township; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private visitation for the immediate family in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls.

There will be a celebration of his life held at the Beaver Assembly of God Church, 500 Dutch Ridge Road, on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at 7 p.m. with his son-in-law, Pastor William Beatty, and his grandson, Pastor Douglas Black, officiating.

Private entombment was in the Beaver Falls Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for all the tender, compassionate care given to Fred by all of the staff of 4-East at Friendship Ridge and also to his physician, Dr. Maurice Prendergast.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, if desired, to the building fund of the Beaver Assembly of God, 500 Dutch Ridge Road, Beaver, Pa. 15009.

The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home today at 12:30 p.m. to conduct full military rites.
