Evalyn E. Hays, 95, of Pittsburgh, and formerly of Ocean Grove, NJ; Clarinda, Iowa; Beaver Falls, PA; Latakia Syria; Olathe, KS, and Youngstown, OH, died Saturday, September 22, 2007, in the Reformed Presbyterian Home, Pittsburgh.
She was born March 3, 1912, in Cleveland, OH, a daughter of the late Lloyd William and Elizabeth (Hudson) Link. She was a prayer warrior, a teaching missionary, and taught at East Palestine Elementary School in special education, and at Riverview Academy, Neptune, NJ. She was a member of the former Geneva Reformed Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Hays in 1971; a daughter, Marilyn E. Hays; a son, Harry A. Hays; two brothers, Leonard and William Link, and a sister, Alyse Link.
She is survived by four children, Philip E. Hays, and his former wife Audrey Hays, of Ashtabula, OH; Norma Jane Hays Orr and Robert W. Orr Sr., of Beaver Falls; Judith H. and Herbert Noack, Ephrata, PA, and Herbert A. Hays Jr., Oswego, NY; ten grandchildren, Nick Hays, Rob, Jeff, Tim, and Afton Orr, Alison Adrawos, Faith Burchfield, and Jake, Pearl, and Matt Hays; eleven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where a service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Chaplin Ed Ver Becke officiating, and Rev. Bruce Backensto, Rev. Clark Copeland, Rev. Mel Martin, and Rev. Renwick Wright co-officiating.
Interment will follow in New Galilee Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery.
