Hazel (Barkley) Ash, 76, of South Beaver Township, formerly of Wampum, died Sunday September 14, 2008, in her home.
Born October 6, 1931 in Volant, PA, daughter of the late Henry H. and Eva (Miller) Barkley, she was the former co-owner along with her late husband, of Hazel's Restaurant in New Castle, a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Darlington and the Women's Auxiliary of the BPO Elks, Beaver Falls. She enjoyed cooking, landscaping and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Ash, on July 24, 2006; a brother, William Barkley, and nine half-brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her twin brother, Henry Barkley, and his wife Winifred, New Castle; two nieces, Carol Wimer, Polk, PA and Beth Unger, and her husband Donald of Pittsburgh; two sons and daughters-in-law, James M. & Ann Ash, Towanda, NY and Randall W. & Melissa Ash, Huntington, WV; twin sisters, Ruth Hall, Overlook Medical Center, New Wilmington and Edith Stevenson Inverness, FL and a sister Bertha Seckler of Inverness, FL; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many loved great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls.
Additional visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in the First United Presbyterian Church, 3385 Old Darlington Road, Darlington, PA 16115, with her pastor Rev. C.F. Hoffman officiating.
Interment will follow in Castleview Memorial Gardens, New Castle, PA.
