Irene "Rene" Oliver, 83, of Beaver Falls, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008.

Born Dec. 3, 1924, in Beaver Falls, the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Kalisz Smakosz, she was a lifelong member of the Divine Mercy Parish, Holy Trinity Church. She was a former employee of Mayer China and CoHill Fashions, both of Beaver Falls, and Bain's Deli in the Beaver Valley Mall. She was an avid Steelers, Duke Blue Devils and Pitt Panthers fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Felix John Oliver, in 1990; a brother, Ed Smakosz, and her dearest friends, Lillian Baden and Edie Gasper.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Eric Whittacre, Cumberland, Md., and two grandchildren, Lauren Whittacre, Morgantown, W.Va., and Sean Whittacre, Cumberland, Md.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where prayers will be recited on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in the Divine Mercy Parish, Holy Trinity Church, Beaver Falls.

Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Chippewa Township.
