John Takacs Jr., 91, of Elmcroft of Chippewa Township, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in St. John Specialty Care Center, Mars, Pa.

Born August 12, 1916, in Chippewa Township, a son of the late John Sr. and Anna (Bedzen) Takacs, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products as a crane operator in the steel yard. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, M. Jean (Stanyard) Takacs; three daughters, Renee Takacs, Mars, Pa.; Joni-jean Takacs, Rochester, N.Y., and Karyl Ann Takacs, Las Vegas, Nev., and two sisters, Ann Miskolcze, Ellport, Pa., and Rose Polsinski, Beaver Falls.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Alex Takacs, and a sister, Carolyn "Carrie" Tusai.

A memorial celebration for John Takacs Jr. will be held Sunday, August 3, 2008, at the home of Renee Takacs and Tom James at 506 Beaver St. Ext., Mars, Pa. 16046. Guests will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 2 p.m.
