Kathryn A. “Betty” Smith, 94, of Friendship Ridge, formerly of Patterson Heights, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009.

    Born April 1, 1915 in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Elva Fleeson.

She had been a self employed beautician and a former member of the Steffen Hill United Presbyterian Church.  She had also been a former auxiliary member of the Patterson Heights Volunteer Fire Department and had volunteered at the Franciscan Manor.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in by her husband Lyle E. Smith on Nov. 8, 1987, and three sisters, Helen Allan, Dorothy Hewitt, and Charlotte Fleeson.

     She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Margery Smith, Chippewa Township, James and Margie Smith, Brighton Township, four grandchildren and their spouses, Lori and Thomas Marshall, Patterson Township, Douglas and Michelle Smith, Chippewa Township, Tracy and Ray Butka, Canonsburg, Tammie Dierdorf, Ohioville, and seven great-grandchildren, Zeth and Alaina Marshall, Morgan and Michael Dierdorf,  Trey and James Butka, and Benjamin (Shu) Smith.

   Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801-4th Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Judith Angleberger officiating.

        Interment will follow in Beaver Falls Cemetery, Chippewa Township.

       The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Friendship Ridge on Annex 2 for their compassionate and loving care of their mother.
