Mary T. (Gilchrist) Hetzler, 92, of Rochester Manor, formerly of Patterson Heights, died Saturday, March 29, 2008.

Born November 3, 1915, in Wellsburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Theodore and Cora Maccall Gilchrist, she was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Beaver. She was a graduate of the Beaver Falls High School, Class of 1933, and Geneva College where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education. Mary had been an elementary schoolteacher for many years, having taught in Hookstown, North Sewickley Township, White Township, and retired from the New Brighton School District. An avid bridge player, she was a member of the Auxiliary to the Beaver Falls Salvation Army, Geneva College Alumni Club, Outlook Club, and the Century Club. Mary had assisted her father in the family business, "The Alps", a confectionery and ice cream parlor on Seventh Avenue in Beaver Falls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Hetzler, in 1971; a brother, John Gilchrist, and two sisters, Jane and Katherine Gilchrist.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Ed" and Louise Hetzler, Hudson, Mass.; a daughter, Anne L. Hetzler, Patterson Township, and a brother, Thomas A. Gilchrist, Patterson Township.

As per Mary's wishes, there will be no public visitation.

A committal service will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Beaver Falls Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 2045 Darlington Road, Chippewa Township, with her pastor, the Rev. Scott Homer, officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 600, Beaver Falls, Pa. 15010.
