Max R. Bishop, 82, of Beaver Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, in the emergency room of the Ellwood City Hospital. Born Aug. 15, 1925, in Elyria, Ohio, he was a son of the late Jesse James Bishop and the late Nina Mae Castle Bishop. Before his retirement, he was employed at the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Co. as a machinist. He had also been employed for 13 years at the Rheem Manufacturing Co., Monaca. Max was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, and was stationed in the South Pacific Theater and had been deployed at Midway and Pearl Harbor. He was also a lifetime member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, a lifetime member of the NRA, the Koppel-Big Beaver Sportsman Club, and was an avid hunter. He was a collector of old bottles and insulators.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Milton and Harry Bishop, and two sisters, Treva McCullough and Lois Bishop.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah I. Booth Bishop; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Max D. Sr. and Diane Bishop, Evans City, and Jeffrey Todd Bishop, Dallas, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy L. and David Furnival, Chippewa Township; Susan and Rayne Anderson, Charlotte, N.C., and Barbara and Al Christian, Akron, Ohio; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, with his grandson, Pastor Andrew Christian, officiating.
Private interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County.

The Beaver County Special Unit will conduct full military rites at the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home on Saturday at 2 p.m.
