Maxine Freed Srmack, 96, formerly of South Beaver Township, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007, in the providence Health Care Center.

Born Jan. 2, 1911, in Mason City, W. Va., a daughter of the late Samuel W. and Garnet (Shuler) Thompson, she was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Darlington, Pa. Maxine enjoyed her family, bowling and bingo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry B. Freed and Frank A. Srmack; a son, Fred W. Freed; a grandson, Michael Scott Freed; two granddaughters, Linda Robbins and Cynthia Stuckwish, and four sisters, Virginia Beightley, Hazel Eckman, Phyllis Householder and Garnet Thompson.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harry W. and Neda Freed; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and James A. Greene, and Virginia and Roger L. Javens; a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Carol Thompson; ten grandchildren, Harry L. and Becky Freed, Michelle and Tony Birmingham, Pam and Bill Sedlak, Deb and Tim Weigle, Jim and Beth Greene, Bob and Peggy Greene, Jeffrey and Susan Greene, Sam and Lori Greene, Roger A. and Jennifer Javens, and Melinda and Scott Clark; 23 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Mary Paswell.

The family would like to thank the pastors who visited and prayed with her, the nurses and staff of the Providence Care Center for their friendship and care and the Grane Hospice Care nurses and staff for their helpful information, guidance and care.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at First United Presbyterian Church of Darlington, corner of Rte. 168 and Darlington Rd. Her pastor the Rev. C. F. Hoffman will officiate.

The HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME,  3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, was in charge of arrangements.
