Rev. Dr. J. Renwick Wright, 91, formerly of Beaver Falls, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009, in the Reformed Presbyterian Home in Pittsburgh.
Born May 6, 1918, in Coleraine, Ireland, he was a son of the late Rev. James R. Wright and Elizabeth Reid Wright. He received his Master's degree from Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, and his Doctorate of Divinity from Geneva College.
Rev. Dr. Wright was a pastor of Ballymoney and Dromara Reformed Presbyterian Churches, both in Northern Ireland; Geneva Reformed Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls, and Winchester Reformed Presbyterian Church, in Kansas. He was a New Testament Language and Literature professor for 15 years at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh before retiring.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maureen H. (Kelly) Wright, Pittsburgh; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Carol (Spear) Wright, Arlington, MA, and Jonathan and Martha (McMillan) Wright, Jamesville, NY; thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Wright; two brothers, Thomas Reid Wright and Rev. Hugh Wright, and a sister, Marie Holmes.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hilland kunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls. There will be additional visitation Monday from 12 noon until the time of services at 2 p.m. in the First Reformed Presbyterian Church, 209 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, with his pastor, Rev. Bruce Hemphill, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery, New Galilee, PA.
