Robert W. Cook, 78, of Chippewa Township, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.
Born Oct. 10, 2010 in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Howard S. and Mary Ellen Montgomery Cook. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with distinction and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and a bronze star. He was a Presbyterian and a member of the V.F.W. Post 8106 in New Galilee. Bob had retired from the former Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Company where he was a first helper on the furnace in the Steel Mill Department. He used to fly ultra light airplanes and he also enjoyed flying model airplanes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Kim Turconi on May 30, 2009, a brother Howard Cook, and three sisters, Katherine Stevens, Betty Glenn, and Donna Lutz.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Norma Shansky Cook, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Cook, Safety Harbor, FL, David B. and Paula Cook, Big Beaver, a son-in-law, Joseph Turconi, Safety Harbor, FL, seven grandchildren, Mrs. Todd (Lindsey) Hooper, Andrew Cook, Blake Cook, Amber Cook, Ashley Cook, Krista Turconi and Karli Turconi, a great-granddaughter, Mikaylah, his twin sisters, Mary Louise Waite and Shirley “Toy” Landsbach, both of Beaver, and his two beloved Labradors Cheyene and Chessie.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801-4th Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where a service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dennis D. Burnett, pastor of the College Hill Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery on Thursday.
