Ruth E. Fisher, 95, of the Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople, formerly of Patterson Township, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.

Born Sept. 20, 1914 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Trauger Somers. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Patterson Township and was a world traveler in her ministry. She had a healing ministry, a Bible teacher, and was also a preacher. She had worked with Kathryn Kuhlman ministries and later she was affiliated with the Kathryn Kuhlman Foundation. At the age of 70 she took flying lessons and passed her test to become a pilot.

When it comes to personal commitment and zealous devotion to one's life work, Ruth Fisher and her sister Maryon Marsh lived by example. As a young woman, Mrs. Fisher was afflicted with a crippling back injury, which confined her to bed. In those days Kathryn Kuhlman was not very well known even though her voice was on the radio. It was at her mother's suggestion that Ruth and her sister began listening to the young evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman on the radio. The two sisters went to Pittsburgh one evening where Miss Kuhlman was speaking. That encounter with Miss Kuhlman changed both of their lives forever. A short time later, Ruth said that the Holy Spirit entered her and she was healed and saved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Maryon Marsh, and a brother, Robert Somers, Jr.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Lee and Louise Fisher, Lakewood Ranch, FL; a grandson, Charles "Chip" Fisher, Jr., Clearwater, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Michael Kenney, Windermere, FL, and a great-granddaughter, Samantha Kenney.

Friend will be received Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www. hillandkunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls. There will be an additional visitation on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Paul Poole officiating.

Private interment will be in the Beaver Falls Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the First Assembly of God, 1317 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 or to the Kathryn Kuhlman Foundation, P.O. Box 3, Pittsburgh, PA 15230
