Wilbur W. “Bill” Beatty, 88, of Big Beaver, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 in the Beaver Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
    Born Oct. 4, 1922 in New Galilee, he was the son of the late H. Edwin and Hazel Kerr Beatty.  He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Parish, V.F.W. Post 4597, East Palestine, and the Disabled American Veterans.   He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II with the 104th Timberwolf Division. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge.  He had been employed for Martsolf Brothers and Sunnyside Coal Company and had retired as a rural letter carrier with the Darlington Post Office.
               In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret “Peg” Lundy Beatty, a brother Almatrin “Mate” Beatty, and two sisters Lois Haspels and Edna Beatty.
       He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Richard A. and Theresa Beatty, Jersey Shore, PA,  Robert Daniel and Elsie Beatty, Lancaster, PA, Gregory D. and Sharon Beatty, Enon Valley, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister Ida Martsolf, Enon Valley.
        Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801-4th Avenue, College Hill, Beaver Falls, where prayers will be recited on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Rev. Father Kim Schreck as celebrant.
          Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver.

   The Beaver County Special Unit will meet at the cemetery on Wednesday at 10:50 a.m. to conduct full military rites.
