Helen B. Mentz, 95, of College Hill, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born August 14, 1924 in Fallston, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Ambrogina “Bertha” Lucini Clerici. She was a devout Roman Catholic and had been a member of the former St. Philomena Catholic Parish, and was currently a member of Holy Family Parish in New Brighton.
Helen was known dearly as a caring, loving, and giving mother to her six children, loved and adored by her 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. She was also loved by her many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert T. Mentz, Sr. in 2006, a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Nick Bellan, two brothers and a sister-in-law, John Louis Clerici, and Alfred “Fred” and Patty Clerici.
Surviving are her six children and their spouses, Robert T. “Bob” Mentz, Jr. and his wife Joanne, White Township, Linda “Linny” Mentz Gregory and her husband John, Atlanta, Georgia, William L. “Bill” Mentz and his wife Anita, Bethel Park, PA, Shirley “Annie” Knotts and her husband Ed, Darlington, PA, Mary K. Mentz and partner Paul “Skip” Egliski, College Hill, and John T. “Johnny” Mentz, Houston, Texas.
There will be no public visitation. There will be a private visitation for the family.
Everyone is invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 521 Seventh Avenue, New Brighton., with Father Tom Kredel as celebrant. Private interment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Chippewa Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, if desired, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
