Norma L. Paxton, 96, of Chippewa Township, passed away peacefully the evening of Wednesday, August 7, 2019.
Norma was born August 22, 1922, in Detroit, Michigan to the late J. Norman and Elizabeth (Grant) Wood. She spent much of her childhood growing up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Beaver Falls High School and attending Geneva College, Norma worked as a switch board operator for Bell Telephone. Norma’s many lifelong passions and talents included playing piano, sewing, knitting, cooking, and baking; her greatest joy, however, was being with her family. She was a long-time member of Steffin Hill Presbyterian Church, and was also the Church’s former Organist and Financial Secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George “Bob” Paxton in 2012; infant twin daughters; a brother and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Ruth Wood, a brother Samuel Wood, and three brothers-in-law Edward Bernstein, John Thonen and Dale Laughlin.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Richard Hrotic, Chippewa Township, and Nanci and Mark Miller, Daugherty Township; three grandchildren, Shawn Hrotic and Nikki, Alan Wickline, and Jordan and Justin Orlovsky; a great granddaughter, Zoey Hrotic; three sisters, Geraldine Thonen, Mary Alice Bernstein and Donna Jean Laughlin; and a brother and sisters-in-law, Jack and JuleAnn Wood, and Nancy Wood.
Friends will be received Saturday, August 10, from 12 Noon until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. at the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 Fourth Avenue, College Hill, Beaver Falls (www.hillandkunselman.com).
Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Cemetery, Daugherty Township.
