Patricia (Tress) Denman

Patricia Denman, 90, of Beaver Falls, died peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, September 2, 2019. 

Born May 19, 1929, in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Helen M. (Davidson) Tress.  Patty was a member of St. Monica Church (formerly St. Philomena). 

Patty lived her life with an open heart and a selflessness that placed her family and community in the forefront of everything she did.  She nurtured and loved all four of her children into the people they were meant to be and still had more to give in both the community and the workplace. 

A strong sense of Christian faith found her an active member of the Parent Teachers Guild, the funeral committee, a CCD instructor and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Philomena Parish.  

Once a Tiger Always a Tiger! Patty loved being a part of the Beaver Falls community. Her commitment to civic duty was apparent though her work on the Boards of both The Carnegie Free Library and the Water Authority.  During the years her children were attending Beaver Falls High School, she was actively involved as an athletic and band booster.  She served as Secretary of her BFHS Class of 1947, attended both Duquesne University and Geneva College where she was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. 

Born the eldest of seven children, whose father died when she was 12 and the youngest 10 months, Patty had a fair amount of responsibility laid upon her from an early age.  This undoubtedly served as the foundation of her tireless work ethic.  Throughout her life, she had many jobs, starting with the earliest of years working in the family businesses and ending with 20 years of service in the Big Beaver Falls Area School District.  She valued education and loved the energy of being around children. 

Patty was a strong, beautiful and compassionate woman who had a great sense of humor and was genuinely fun to be around.  She had an easy way about her that drew people in and made them feel comfortable.  She will be greatly missed by her family and so many friends. 

Survived by her four children; B. Bruce (Candace Chaney) Denman, Jon (Barb Brozich) Denman, Kurt (E.G. Fishburne) Denman, Joanie Denman; eight grandchildren, Taylor Denman, Abigayle Denman, Alan (Paige) Denman, Craig (Julianne) Denman, Tim (Kayla) Denman, Halle Denman, Cy Fox, Tori Fox; two great-grandchildren, Carter Denman, Parker Denman; one brother, John “Ed” Tress; two sisters, Eileen DiFonzo, Evajean Morris; In-laws, Jim Morris, Toni Tress, Margie Tress.   

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Bernard Denman; two brothers, Thomas Tress, Willard “Joe” Tress; a sister Helen Maie Zeh; In-laws, Violet “Sis” Tress, Gerald Zeh, Floe Tress. 

Friends will be received on Thursday September 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home 3801 4th Ave. Beaver Falls. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Church, Chippewa.  Fr. Kim Shrek will officiate.  Guests are invited to join the family for a luncheon immediately following in Founder’s Hall.  Private interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
