Shirley A. Schiemer 

Patterson Heights

Shirley A. Schiemer, 84, of Patterson Heights, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 7, 2016.

Born June 18, 1932 in Beaver Falls, she was the daughter of the late Bruce DeWitt Snodgrass and the late Helen Murchie Snodgrass.  She was a cheerful, whistling, baking, fabulous soul with a will of iron; who put up with and participated in the shenanigans of her husband and children. She had been an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where she has served as a Deacon and was involved with Hope’s Chest at her church.  She was a graduate of Thiel College where she received a B.A. in English.  For several years, she and her husband had been chaperones for the Blackhawk High School Band accompanying them on trips to South Carolina and Walt Disney World.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Matthew Schiemer, a brother, W.D. Snodgrass, and a sister, Barbara Snodgrass.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard R. Schiemer, Sr., her five children, Hope Schiemer, Patterson Heights, Barbara Schiemer, College Hill, Margaret and David Gentzel, Wexford, Richard Jr. and Beth Schiemer, West Mayfield, Eric and Jennifer Schiemer, Moon Township, eight grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Benjamin, Noah, Gabriel, Autumn, Alex, and Kevin, and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marty Snodgrass.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where the service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Saul officiating.  Private interment in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Calvary Presbyterian Church, 1099 Sixth Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.

I was so sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. She was a special lady. It was a joy to raise our family in the neighborhood with families like yours. Many fond memories of those days.
