Albert George Dainton, 83, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
He will be sadly missed his wife of 58 years, Carole M. Dainton (Loughner), North Sewickley Twp.; a daughter, Suellen Wiles, Plum Borough; a son, Albert John Dainton, Washington D.C., a granddaughter, Cassie Wiles, Plum Borough; his twin brother, Curt (Jan) Dainton, Beaver Falls; a sister, Karen Freeman, Beaver Falls; a sister-in-law, Susan Loughner, Beaver Falls and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Al was born on September 3, 1938 in New Brighton to the late John and Florence “Flossie” (Richards) Dainton. As a youth, he hit the first over-the-fence home run at the little league fields in Beaver Falls. He graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1957 and attended Geneva College majoring in Chemistry and played baseball. He earned his master’s degree in Technology from Clarkson College in New York. After attaining his master’s, Al continued his education by studying many additional hours and never stopped learning. Upon graduation, he went on to teach Chemistry and Physics at Rochester and Beaver High Schools, where in addition to teaching he was a beloved assistant baseball and football coach. Upon retirement, he also taught at Geneva College.
Al served his community as a member of the North Sewickley Sewer Authority and was a leading member of the Beaver Falls Lions Club. In 2006, he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services by Lions Club International. He was also an active member of the North Sewickley Presbyterian Church where he served in many roles. When not serving in his community, he could be found in his backyard gardening or simply enjoying the outdoors by golfing with close friends. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com , 3801 Fourth Avenue, Beaver Falls, where a service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. his minister, Pastor Bob Goosen will officiate. Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Cemetery.
