Amelia “Millie” Kopka, 96, of Beaver Falls passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Providence Care Center. Born in Brady’s Bend, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pawkovich) Todorich. She was a member of St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church in Beaver Falls.
During WWII, Millie worked for a few years as an inspector for Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Products. She married the love of her life, Andy, in 1945. During the 60’s, while raising her children, she worked for Sim’s Bowling Lanes. Then, for 22 years, she worked for the Homewood Roller Rink where she shared her appreciation for music and made a lasting impression on everyone she met with her loving demeanor and sweet personality.
Millie always enjoyed a game of cards or watching a sporting event with family, friends and neighbors. She liked to work on puzzles and complete word searches, and loved to watch the children swimming and ice skating at the Heinrich Swimming Pool and Ice Rink. She was quick to use her love of cooking and baking to donate items for bake sales, neighbors in need, or church socials. If you ever stopped to visit her, she would put food on the table whether you were hungry or not. She was a self-taught seamstress and would make clothes and costumes for her children as well as volunteer her time and talents for other organizations. Although, her all-time favorite thing was her love of music. From country, to the current trend playing at the roller rink, to Croatian music, Millie will forever have a song in her heart and ours.
Millie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Apolinary “Andy” Kopka 1994; two brothers, John and Joseph Todorich, and four sisters Mary Ann Smith, Betty Romanko, Barbara Todorich and Dorothy Smith.
She is survived by five children--Edmund (Tana) Kopka, Vienna, OH; Dennis Kopka, New Galilee; Mary Frances (Jeff) Campese, Beaver Falls; Jodi (Joseph) Yanosick, Moon Township; Christine (Sean) Snyder, Moon Township. Nine grandchildren--Jenny (Scott) Barbutes, Wendy (Rob) Kay; Kara (Vaynerd Place) Kopka, Megan Kopka; Jeffrey Campese; Jacob Yanosick, John Yanosick; Luke Snyder, Logan Snyder.
