Barbara (Goehring) Kaercher, 95, of Chippewa Twp. passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Barbara was born on August 28, 1926 in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Edwin Carl and Ethelyne Gladys (Glenn) Goehring.
Barbara was a 1944 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and a 1948 graduate of Geneva College, with a major in Pre-Med and two minors in French and Education.
She was an elder of the church that she was baptized in, the former First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Beaver Falls.
Barbara taught Girls Health and Home Nursing at Ellwood City High School to 8th and 11th grade girls for four years.
In September of 1948 she married Jacque Kaercher, the love of her life, he passed away in 2004.
They lovingly adopted their three children; a daughter, Ms. Natalie Hoffman, Leetonia, OH; two sons, Glenn A. Kaercher and the late Neil Kaercher, who passed away in 1996; a grandson, Joshua (Megan) Ford; 5 great grandchildren, Hunter Ford, Johanna Ford, Cassandra Whitmore, Addy Reese, and Gavin Reese and a brother and sister-in-law, David Richard and Margaret Goehring in Wichita, KS, whom she was especially close to.
For nine years from 1973 to 1982 Barbara was a librarian at the local elementary school in Milwaukee, WI, the family had moved here when Jacque’s job with B & W was transferred. In 1982 they moved back to Beaver Falls.
Barbara was interested in writing poetry. She and six of her friends formed a “Poetry Club”. One of Barbara’s poems was published in the local paper. In 1996, Barbara wrote a children’s book called “Puddles”.
Everyone is welcome to attend a graveside service Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver Borough. Pastor Donald Gaffney will officiate.
