Charles H. “Chuck” Ellefson, 90, of Chippewa Township, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in Good Samaritan Hospice with his loving family by his side.
Born on June 21, 1931, in New Brighton, he was a son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Ruff) Ellefson. Chuck graduated from Beaver Falls High School Class of 1949 and a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War. He was a group leader for Westinghouse for 43 ½ years before retiring. Chuck was a volunteer fireman for the Chippewa Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years, as well as being a retired landscaper for Gumpf’s Gardens.
He was a former member and past master of the Parian Lodge #662 F & AM. Chuck was also a member of the Beaver Falls American Legion Post 261, the B.P.O.E. Elks in Beaver Falls, and the 1st Church of Christ in East Palestine, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene R. (Schriner) Ellefson; children, Linda (Bill) Branthoover, of Chippewa, Lisa Kelly, of Florida, Charles R. (Amy) Ellefson, of Chippewa, and Kimberly (James) Hite, of Darlington; seven grandchildren, Sean (Nicole) Kelly, John, Katie, and William (Rhonda) Branthoover, Patti Bennet, Pete (Ashley) Ellefson, and Nicholas Ellefson; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Chris) Ellefson, of Beaver Falls; sister-in-law, Lorena Ellefson, of Chippewa; as well as brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Kathryn Schriner, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Chuck is preceded in death by an infant child in 1960; brothers, Edward Earl and John (Janet) Ellefson; son-in-law, James Kelly; brothers-in-law, Dennis J., Robert W., and John H. Schriner; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley (Schriner) and David C. Butcher; and sisters-in-law, Edith Bailey and Sandra K. Blessing.
Friends will be received on Monday from 6-8 PM, and Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC.- 3801 4th Avenue, College Hill, www.hillandkunselman.com. The funeral service will take place Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Reverend Bob Helbeck as celebrant.
There is sadness in this “goodbye”, but also gratitude for this wonderful man who leaves behind family and friends, casual acquaintances, and total strangers who adored him.
