Edith Langille Baldwin, 96, of St. Barnabas Retirement Village in Gibsonia, PA and formerly of Chippewa Township, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021, just four days before her 97th birthday.
Born February 28, 1924 in Beaver Falls, PA, Edith was the daughter of the late Ellman and Annie (Laughren) Langille. She was a graduate of New Brighton High School, Class of 1942, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Class of 1944, where she studied Fashion Illustration and Merchandise Drawing. Upon graduation from the Art Institute, Edith was employed by Rosenbaum’s Department Store in Pittsburgh, PA as an illustrator in their Advertising Department.
Edith was the owner and operator of Klein’s Flower Shop in New Brighton, PA from 1948 until 1960. She was a full-time interviewer for the U. S. Census Bureau and was later employed by the Oneida Silver Company. Edie (as she was known by her friends) was a former member of the New Brighton Junior Women’s Club, New Brighton Chamber of Commerce, Marion Gordon Ladies Auxiliary, New Century Club, Outlook Club, Pennsylvania Medley Club, and the Merrick Art Gallery.
Edie was a watercolor artist and proud that many of her paintings are hanging in numerous homes and businesses throughout the Beaver Valley. Her fun-loving attitude, lively personality, creative spirit, and generous heart will be missed by her family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, James Newbolt, in 1972 and Dr. Thomas Baldwin, Sr. in 2012, to whom she was married for 31 years. During that time they traveled extensively, sailing on the QE2 and flying on the Concorde. She was also predeceased by her brother, Vernon Langille and his wife, Vivian.
She is survived by her stepson, Thomas Baldwin, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Chippewa Township, PA; her nephew, David Langille and his wife Lorrie of Addison, TX; and her great-niece Emily (Langille) Bendorf, her husband Nick, and their son Harlan of Dallas, TX.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com , 3801 4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA followed by a private funeral service and burial in Clinton Cemetery in Wampum, PA.
