Evelyn K. Smilak, 78, of Patterson Township, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022, in West Penn Hospital being held by her daughter and grandson, while being showered with love and affection from her family.
Born on November 4, 1943, in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Cartalina) Morgan. Evelyn was a strong, catholic woman who enjoyed spending time at the YMCA.
She is survived by her children, Matthew (Becky) Smilak, and Stacey Smilak; grandchildren, Nathan and Jacob Smilak, and Jarrett (Harley Baker) Schriner; great grandchildren, who were the lights of her life, Aliyah, and Ariane Schriner; sisters, Rebecca (Bruce) Bowman, and Sally (Butch) Wilson; sister-in-law, Pauline Morgan; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Morgan.
A private family service honoring Evelyn will be held at a later date. The HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC.- 3801 4th Avenue, College Hill, www.hillandkunselman.com was honored to assist her family at this time.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at West Penn Hospital for the extreme amount of care and comfort they brought to Evelyn, especially Dr. Salman Fazal and his associates, and to the nurses of E-7, Jordan, Celena, Mark, and Andrea.
