Helen Brown Obituary

Helen Jean (Fields) Brown, 87, of Beaver Falls, passed peacefully on April 4th, 2022, in the loving care of the staff at Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown, PA after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Jean was born February 17th, 1935, to Floyd J. and Francis M. Fields. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1953 and sang her alma mater with pride up until the end. Jean worked for McDaniels and the Salvation Army Corps Community Center for many years before retiring and working as a lunch monitor for Blackhawk School District.

Jean loved country music and enjoyed attending fairs and seeing her favorite singers in concert, especially Travis Tritt. She was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed watching Mountaineer football and basketball. She loved dogs, and fondly remembered her horse Gypsy Queen while growing up on the family farm that she very much loved. She was a hard worker all her life and rarely sat idle for any length of time. Due to her fighting spirit and stubbornness, she was able to survive many personal tragedies during her lifetime; and her sarcasm and tenacity made her the spunky darling of her wing in the Care Center for the past 5 years.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Fields, aunt Helen McFadden, her son-in-law Daniel Oprisu, and her beloved dog Skeeter.

She is survived by her daughter Sherry (Mussey) Oprisu of Greensburg, Terry (Mussey) Shasteen (Joe) of North Carolina, and Kelly (Brown) Parker of Meadville, as well as son-in-law Dean Parker of Edinboro and six grandchildren: Angela (Shasteen) Harpell of North Carolina, Stacy (Oprisu) Giles and Jennifer Oprisu of Greensburg, Ashley (Shasteen) Floreno of Alabama, and Allison and Jacob Parker of Meadville. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3801 4th Avenue, College Hill, www.hillandkunselman.com. Private interment will take place in Grandview Cemetery.
