Jean E. Summerfield, 98, formerly of Vanport, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 in Newark, OH where she resided.
Jean was born on September 24, 1922 in New Brighton to the late George and Ella (Calhoun) Beatty. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School, Class of 1939 and was a floral designer for Snyder’s Florist in Beaver for many years.
Jean was a former member of Hope Lutheran Church in Beaver, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), World War I auxiliary, the auxiliary to the Rochester Salvation Army and the Freedom Eagles.
Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Donald and Michelle Summerfield, Howard, OH; a granddaughter, Aura Lee Summerfield, a grandson, Jake Wozniak and his wife Rachel and a great-grandson, Nathan Gartland.
She was preceded in death by her twin sister, June Gifford and a sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Edward Frishkorn.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel at Beaver Cemetery where she will be interred.
