Jean E. Szopo, 86, of Beaver Falls, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, in Cambridge Village with her loving family at her side.
Born on June 22, 1935, in Chartiers, Greene County, she was a daughter of the late Dean L. Sr. and Della (Paci) Minerd. Jean worked for the Beaver Falls School District as a custodian and attended the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Even though she was a very social person, a great friend, and lived to play cards, family always came first to Jean. Being a grandmother was something she was so proud of.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Steve” Szopo; a brother, Dean “Bud” Minerd, Jr.; and sister, Louise Salko.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Kittner; sons, Robert (Janet) Szopo, and Thomas Szopo; grandchildren, Kylee (Ryan) Thompson, Joseph (Stephanie) Kittner, Jenna (Eric) Soder, Louis II and Bradley Szopo, Natalee (Robert) Schuman, and Sydney (Fiancé Nick) Szopo; great-grandchildren, Noelle, Sophia, Ridge, Eli, Finley, Ella, Kayden, and Robert; brother, Bill Sr. (Kay) Minerd; six sisters-in-law, Helen Shimet, Esther Huffman, Julia Blasoile, Mary (Jim) Phillips, Barbara Moore, and Rose (Bruce) Custer; brother-in-law, John (Jackie) Szopo; as well as hundreds of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM & 6:00 until time of blessing service at 7:30 PM in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC.- 3801 4th Avenue, College Hill, www.hillandkunselman.com. Fr. Kim Schreck will be officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Cambridge Village for the compassionate care they provided to Jean. Their kindness and ability to stay on top of things did not go unnoticed.
