Jimmy Draughn Obituary

Jimmy Draughn, 83, of North Sewickley Township passed away peacefully Monday, July 6, 2020 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.

He was born on July 29, 1936 in Leburn, KY to the late Rudolph and Malveria (Terry) Draughn.

In 1962 Jimmy was in the United States Air Force stationed in Bermuda, where he met and married his loving wife of 56 years, Judy, while she was there working for the Air Force. During his 12 years in the service they lived in Bermuda, Denver, CO and Amarillo, TX; had two children and saw the Korean War and the Vietnam War come to pass. After the service they settled in North Sewickley Township where Jimmy worked and retired as a Millwright for Babcock and Wilcox and Koppel Steel. While working for Koppel Steel they moved him to their Boytown, TX plant for three years as Supervisor of the Maintenance Department.

Jimmy was passionate about his military service and was proud to have served our country for 12 ½ years. Jimmy and Judy spent many winters in Lakeland and Ocala, FL. He relished the fact he could golf all year round. Nothing made him happier than spending a day on the golf course with his buddies. He was an avid crossword puzzle fan and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed working with his hands and completed many home improvement projects.

Jimmy had a huge personality and made friends easily.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann (Wachter) Draughn, North Sewickley Township; four children and their spouses, Debbie (Mark) Mann, Grand Fork, ND, James (Diane) Draughn, Wheat Ridge, CO, Gregory (Karen) Draughn, Zelienople and Keri (Dr. James) Towry, Ocala, FL; ten grandchildren, Brea Sisler, James Jr., Marcus and Adam (Teresa) Draughn, Racheal, Joshua and Luke Draughn, Elizabeth, Mary Katherine and Sarah Towry; five great-grandchildren, Bailey Martin, Olive Lobue, Jevonte and Jayden Draughn and Kiley Draughn; a sister, Maggie DeCorte; three sister-in-laws, Elfriede Draughn, Mary Lou Schlosser and Kim (John) Waddell; a brother-in-law, Don Wachter and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death two brothers, Charles and Tommy Draughn; a sister, Betty Duty; a half-brother, Bartram Draughn; four half-sisters, Elsie Williams, Olive Thacker, Eloise Waddles and Velma Glee Huff and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, that he dearly loved, Frank and Della Wachter.
