Hope, Lily and Kenna Rastetter, Ohio, Alaina Argabrite, Ohio, Briella Soos, Aliquippa. John is also survived

by brothers-in-law, sisters-in- law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Frances (Soos) Woodward and Debbie

(Soos) Strobel.

John was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School class of 1966. This is where he formed friendships that

lasted his lifetime.

John would be considered a workaholic. This is something that started as a young man. He spent 2 years

working at Stan’s Boron Station and 20 years at B&W Steel Mill. Johns’ hobby was working on cars. He

started his car repair business working out of his home garage in Chippewa and eventually made the

move to purchase his service station at 209 37th St. John was the owner of A-1 Automotive for 32 years

before he retired and was lucky enough to do something he loved for his career. You could consider him

a doctor of cars. He could diagnose anything. When you picked your car up, he would show you the old

parts and explain why they failed. He was truly passionate about vehicles and teaching. Some may know

him as the Saturday Morning Mechanic on WBVP. He loved sharing his knowledge and love for cars with

the public. If you presented him with a problem and he didn’t have the answer, he would research it until

he found the solution. On the next broadcast he will tell you what he found. He had the gift of gab. He

also taught auto mechanics at CCBC. He loved working with others who wanted to learn the trade.

John enjoyed collecting classic cars and taking them to car shows. John would be up before sunrise and

head to a car cruise to get the perfect spot. Out of all the cars he owned his favorite was his 1966

Chevelle with a 454 big block. That was the other woman in his life and boy could she purr. He did go

through a period where he felt the need for speed and built a Pro Street 1968 Ford Falcon. You could

hear him coming a mile away. He spent a lot of good times at Quaker City Raceway on test and tune

nights with family and friends. There was nothing like the smell of high-octane fuel, burning tires and the

sound of loud engines. John was the founder of the Old Farts Club. The club’s moto “To be a member,

must have natural gas and a classic car to put it in”. Anyone who knows John knows he was full of it.

John was quite a storyteller. He loved to tell jokes and was a prankster. You never knew when you’d be

the proud recipient of a box or gift bag of rubber poop. He got a kick out of shooting off his homemade

cannon and making the loudest boom in the neighborhood. He loved watching Cops, Live PD, and

anything history related. He would never pass up a banana split, hot apple dumpling or a stick of

pepperoni. He tried his best to sing lullabies to his children and grandchildren, but it always ended up

with another song or 2 mixed in. John enjoyed attending weekly church service at the Catholic church

and talking about his faith.

John was known by many people and by many things. Those who knew him best knew he was a

generous man with a big heart, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. There’s nothing he

wouldn’t do for you.

John wasn’t into sad sappy things. To honor his wishes there’s no funeral service. There will be a

Celebration of Life at a later date. There will be food, drinks, music, and storytelling. If you have a classic

car, please bring it.

To honor his memory, remember the good times with John and spend time with those you love. He will

be missed dearly.
