Katherine L. McMurdy

    Katherine L. McMurdy, 71, of Beaver Falls passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023.

    Katherine was born on September 13, 1951 in Sewickley to the late Foster and Stephanie (Tedis) Maier. Kathy was a 1969 graduate of Ambridge High School and attended the Pittsburgh Art Institute. In her younger days Kathy was very active in school activities at Beaver Falls Central Elementary School. She held various offices in the PTA and was responsible for writing the organizational newsletter. In addition, Kathy spent many years as a Homeroom Mother. She also worked with Mrs. Williams Special Education class with an emphasis on art.

    Cooking was very important to Kathy, and she enjoyed sharing her skills with her granddaughters. Up until recently Kathy had a great liking for crafts especially ceramic painting.

    Halloween used to be one of her favorite holidays. She enjoyed dressing up and passing out treats on her elaborately decorated front porch. In her later years, Kathy suffered from poor health and increased sight loss. But through all that she remained feisty!

    Kathy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ray McMurdy; their two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric McMurdy and Mark (Misty) McMurdy; three grandchildren, Mystique, Mariesha and Mark; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, John (Debra) Maier, James (Rosemary) Maier and Darlene Bennett; a sister, Cynthia Hartman; her father-in-law, Raymond McMurdy, Sr. and various nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Pearl McMurdy.

    Inurnment will be in Beaver Falls Cemetery Mausoleum.
