Larry E. Derringer of Darlington Borough passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021.
Born on March 12th in Big Beaver Borough, PA., Larry was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. Larry spent his professional life working for Preston Trucking and ABF Freight System.
Larry was renowned for his ability to fix anything. He had phenomenal cooking and baking skills that brought the family together, as well as a razor-sharp wit. He was always ready with a smile and some humor. He was also known for his generous and giving nature.
Larry will be remembered as a loving father as well as a good friend to all; a man who wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone in need. Larry was selfless and always cared more for the needs of others than he did for himself. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren was what Larry cherished the most.
Surviving is his wife, Nancy (Smith) Derringer, and their four children: Holly, John (Leigh Ann), Jeffery (Zongping) and Joseph; his brother ,Edward; step-brothers Larry, Tim, and Tom and a brother-in-law, Robert. As a beloved grandfather, he will also be remembered and missed by his grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Sarah Lois (Patterson) Derringer; his step-mother, Helen; sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Shirley; infant son, Larry; his sister, Marilyn and step-brother, Glenn.
Deepest gratitude to his brother, Ed and his nieces Sara and Shelby for their love and support throughout his illness.
In accordance with Larry's wishes, he will be cremated and no services are planned.
A private celebration of life is planned to honor our loved one.
