Mary Jane Donnelly, 84, of Unity Twp. and formerly of Patterson Twp. passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
Mary Jane was born in Kansas City, MO on May 23, 1939 and adopted by the late Harrold C. and Elizabeth E. (Dougherty) Townsend. She was a graduate of Mount Gallitzin High School in Baden and was a devoted member of St. Augustine Parish in Chippewa Twp.
Mary Jane began working for Blackhawk Schools as a floor monitor in the cafeteria and worked her way up, over 35 years, to manager and cook of the Blackhawk Intermediate School cafeteria. Mary Jane will be remembered for her cinnamon rolls and other yummy items she added to the children’s lunches and the daily special lunches she made for the teachers. She expressed her love and kindness through food. In addition to her joy of baking, she and her husband, Joe enjoyed participating in numerous car cruises and attended many Nascar Races. And how can anyone forget her collection of hundreds of Beanie Babies!
Mary Jane truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 63 years, Joe Donnelly, Unity Twp.; two sons, two daughter-in-laws, and four grandsons, Pat (Stephanie) Donnelly and their two sons, Trevor & Garrett, all of Clarksville, MD and Dan (Jennifer) Donnelly and their two sons, Nolan & Nashton, all of South Beaver Twp.; step-nieces and nephews, Gary Linhart, Becky Minamyer, Billie Lyda, and Scott Linhart, all in the Columbiana area; friends from her cafeteria days; former card club friends; great neighbors and Maxine, a good friend for the last 40 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepmother, Edie Townsend and a stepsister, Gene Linhart.
Friends will be received Thursday, October 19th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com , 3801 Fourth Ave. Beaver Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 20th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Parish, St. Monica site, 116 Thorndale Road, Beaver Falls with Father Kim Schreck as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
