Otto Gehley Obituary

    Otto J. Gehley, 90, of South Beaver Township passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023. He was born on June 12,1932 in Rochester, PA. Otto was the last born of eight children to the late Otto Herman and Katherine Elizabeth (Caster) Gehley. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War. Over his lifetime, he worked for Armstrong Cork, St. Joe Lead, and for many years drove truck for Cook Brothers in Darlington, PA.

    Otto was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Otto was a family man. He loved camping in his younger years and enjoyed fishing and traveling. He especially loved his trips to Alaska and Colorado.

    In addition to his parents, five sisters, and 2 brothers, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie I. (Enslen) Gehley in 2013; a daughter, Sandy McGeary in 2016; a granddaughter, Jennifer Luffy in 2015; and a great-grandson, Landon Lester in 2021.

    Surviving are his four daughters, Karen Hinds of South Beaver Township, Brenda (Glenn) Lester of South Beaver Township, Linda (Jim) Parker of Dallas, TX, and Mary Young of Beaver; a son-in-law, Rick McGeary of Chippewa Township; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-children; and a granddog, Duke.

A private memorial service will be held for his family.

Otto will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville with military honors.

Otto had a special place in his heart for the Lord. Because of his love for children, donations can be made, if desired, to St. Jude’s Hospital.
