Phyllis Sahli Snedden, age 90, passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in Chippewa Township, Pennsylvania. Phyllis was born in Beaver Falls in October, 1929 to Edward A., Sr. and Helen P. Sahli and spent most of her life residing in Beaver Falls and Chippewa Township. She was a member of Beaver Falls Class of 1947 and Geneva College Class of 1951. She taught Spanish and then English at Beaver Falls High School before her marriage in 1956. Phyllis enjoyed being involved in numerous civic and philanthropic organizations during her lifetime and loved to volunteer at the Chippewa United Methodist Church as a greeter, church historian and officer of the United Methodist Women. Her many organizations included: The Outlook Club, Beaver Falls New Century Club, Homemaker-Home Health Aide Service of Beaver County and Geneva Alumni Women. She was also active in the Fort McIntosh Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Beaver Valley Community Concert Association, Beaver Falls Historical Society, United Way of Beaver County, Wenonah Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, McKinley School Association, Beaver County Children's Home and Merrick Art Gallery. Phyllis was an original member of the Heritage Valley Medical Center Auxiliary and compassionately led the Alzheimer's Support Group of Beaver County for over 25 years.
Phyllis was the proud recipient of the DAR Community Service Award, the "Life G" and Distinguished Service Awards from Geneva College, the United Methodist Women Service Award and the Jaycees "Woman of the Year" Award in 1986.
Phyllis enjoyed history, traveling, camping, boating, good music of all kinds, watching the Steelers and spending time with family walking and having picnics on her Chippewa farm. Her other favorite "happy place" was her grandmother's farm in Fombell, PA and she frequently shared her childhood adventures there.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Edward A., Sr. and Helen P. Sahli and her brother, Edward A. Sahli, Jr.
She leaves her husband of 63 years, Tillman Richard Snedden of Chippewa Township, daughters Louanne Snedden and her husband Robert Senkevich of Clayton, New Mexico and Amy L. Brown and her husband James Brown of Valencia, PA as well as grandchildren Kindall Davis (Bryan), Kirk Glover, and the Browns: Evan, Colin (Kayla), Preston, Aileen, Shanna and Shon. Phyllis is also survived by great-grandchildren Cade Davis and Caroline Brown, nephew Edward A. Sahli III of Louisville, KY and niece Lisa Sahli Owens of Wadsworth, OH.
The family wishes to thank Elmcroft in Chippewa Township and Grane Hospice for their wonderful care of Phyllis. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations may be made to Chippewa United Methodist Church or Geneva College.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 9:30 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM in the Chippewa United Methodist Church, 2545 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, her pastor the Rev. Allan Brooks will officiate. Please follow CDC guidelines by wearing a mask and social distancing.
Private interment will follow in the Beaver Falls Cemetery, Chippewa Twp.
