Richard E. “Pete” Forney, 84, of Ellwood City, passed away from a broken heart and a brief battle with Cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He is now back in the arms of his beloved wife of 63 years, Beverly.
Pete was born on August 14, 1937, in Eastvale. He loved his family first and foremost before anything. He was an amazing husband, father, Papa, brother, and uncle. He will be missed terribly by all. Pete had a never-ending circle of friends, some new and some lifelong. His passions were fishing, hunting and of course Neon Lights. He loved spending time at his camp where he welcomed all at any time. You could always find Pete at the firepit with a cold beer in hand. It is there that he was the happiest. He was a member of the Owls Club of Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls Turners, the Sheffield VFW Post 8755, and the Sheffield Rod & Gun Club.
Pete is preceded in death by the love of his life, Beverly (Leech) Forney; and parents, George, and Marybelle (Large) Cowan.
He is survived by a son, Scott (Fiancé Sharon Taranto) Forney, of Ellwood City; a daughter, Robin (Mark) Kania, of Baden; four grandchildren, Richard S. Forney, Lisa M. (Guy) McGaughey, all of Texas, Dale (Jennifer) Lipan, of South Carolina, and Dustin (Christina) Braden, of Butler; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Steffen, of New Brighton; numerous nieces, nephews; and his beloved Chihuahua, Chico.
There will be no services per his wishes. He would want all to celebrate his life and not mourn it.
