Robert J. Aquino

Robert J. Aquino, 68, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born January 29, 1954, to the late Joseph (Cradle) Aquino and Elsie (Mazina) Aquino. Robert attended Beaver Falls High School and was a 35-year employee of The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission in the Maintenance Department. He was Catholic by faith.

Bob had a summer camp for over 20 years located at the Shangri-La by the Lake Campground, Jamestown, PA. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and sharing stories with his friends at the camp.

He was a member of the St. Anthony Club in Midland, PA; Jamestown Memorial Post 5424, and the Jamestown V.F. Association, Inc.

He is survived by his sisters, Joan Aquino, Caroline (Dennis) Murcko, and Barbara (Robert) Poster. Paternal cousins and their families: Judy (Jack) Sommer, Deborah Miklavic, Stacy Mittner, and Matty Goff. Maternal cousins and their families: Dory Mazina Groat, Mark (Leslie) Mazina, Jeff (Kim) Eckstein, Dan Mazina, Ki Mazina, and Doug (Lisa) Mazina.

He will be missed by his lifelong friend, Archie Stewart. Bob enjoyed the company of his friends at the camp who had become like family. He leaves behind many hometown and neighborhood friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Dominic and Caroline (Gerbasi) Aquino, and Michael and Irene (Spisak) Mazina, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

It was Bob’s wish to be cremated with no visitation. Our family friend, Father Richard Tusky officiated a graveside Committal Service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Next summer, a Celebration of Life will take place on June 10, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Shangri-La by the Lake Campground, 1824 Williamsfield Rd., Jamestown, PA 16134. There will be a reminder closer to the date.
