Sandra Gruber, 79, of Pittsburgh and formerly of Beaver Falls passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021.
Sandra was born on September 19, 1942 in Aliquippa, PA to the late Rodaslav and Sarah Loncar Gruber. She grew up on Hopewell Avenue across the street from the J&L Steel blast furnaces, which to her, were as big as dinosaurs. As a teenager, she moved to Chippewa Township and graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1960 and attended Penn State University. She married and had three marvelous children, TC (Stacey Small) Reeder, York, PA, Amy Reeder (Mark) Shaffer, New Sewickley Township, PA & Rod Reeder, Beaver, PA. She loved her four grandchildren, with all her heart, Jacob Reeder, Max Reeder, Lily Reeder, and Kyle Reeder. In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by a loving brother, Ronald Dwayne (Lisa) Gruber.
After years of broadcasting school, Sandra eventually became an on-air news reporter for WFMJ, in Youngstown, OH and then a radio broadcaster at WBVP, in Beaver Falls, PA. Years later she began working for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette advancing her lengthy 25+ year career to become a Route Manager for the Teamster, of Local Union 211, and retiring at the age of 64.
In retirement, she was very active in her community, which led to her placement on Luke Ravenstahl's appointment to the Academy of Excellence. There she learned how to help her community with grants and needs with small government.
Her funeral arrangements were carried out, as per her wishes, by HILL AND KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com.
