Sarah Jane (Sempf) Spalla, 43, originally of New Brighton, PA unexpectedly passed away on June 1, 2022.
Sarah was born July 29, 1978, in Rochester, PA to her loving parents, Denise Reda (Sewickley, PA) and Fred Sempf (Rochester, PA). Sarah was a graduate of New Brighton Area High School (1997) and attended the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, NY.
Sarah never met anyone she couldn’t or wouldn’t talk to, she was a friend to all. Her favorite thing in the world was to spend time with her daughters, she could never be close enough to them. She was there for her kids when they needed her the most. She could make anything possible for her children. Her friends were very important to her, and she was always happy to spend time with them as well. Sarah will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sarah’s favorite job was working as a Counselor for the adult deaf groups at PAHrtners Deaf Services. This organization provides mental health programs for individuals who utilize sign language as their primary mode of communication. She put her whole heart into helping people in her community.
In addition to her parents, Sarah is survived by her two children, Harlow Spalla (12) and Addison Spalla (10), her sister, Rachel Sempf and Melvin Travis (partner) and her nephew, Melvin Travis II, many aunts, uncles and cousins along with numerous close friends.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service being held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at 2:00pm at the Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1500 W. Ingomar Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Any memorial contributions may be made to UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation (4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224). A private interment for family will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Grandview Cemetery.
