William Stitt Obituary


William E. Stitt, 88, formerly of Darlington, passed away Tuesday,
June 15, 2010 in Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born July 29, 1921, in Rochester, he was a son of the late George and Margaret (McKenna) Stitt. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Signal Corps having served during World War II. He owned and operated the former Stitt’s Pennzoil in Darlington from 1953 to 1966. Then for the next 31 years he was a service manager for the former Bott Ford in East Palestine, OH.  He was a founding member of St. Rose of Lima Church, where he was a past member of their Holy Name Society, a Charter member and Life member of the Little Beaver Lions Club, an officer of the 55 + Club in Little Beaver and a member of the L.M.B.A. Club, New Galilee.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty M. (Shepard) Stitt, Brighton Twp.; a son, William J. Stitt, South Beaver Twp.; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Dr. David Schmolly, Mount Jackson; twin daughters and a sons-in-law, Susan and Jeff Steel, Ashland, Kentucky and Nancy and Len Vermillion, Edgewood, PA; four grandchildren, Mrs. David (Nicole) Sperdute, Natalee Schmolly, Mr. Chris (Trisha) Steel  and Mrs. William (Brianne) Lester; five  great grandchildren, Daniel & Emily Sperdute and Logan, Emma and Olivia Steel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step–brother, George Alderson.
Friend will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME,  www.hillandkunselman.com   , 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls, where prayers will be recited at 9:20 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, with Father Edward Czemerda as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Cecelia Cemetery in Rochester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Beaver Lion’s Club, P.O. Box 303, Darlington, PA, 16115.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Beaver County Special Unit at 11:20 at the cemetery.
