William Clayton Townsend, Jr., 75, formerly of Akron, Ohio and Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the Reformed Presbyterian Home in Pittsburgh.
Born on May 12, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of the late William C Townsend, Sr. and Hilda (Horn) Townsend. Bill graduated from high school in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Cuba during the Vietnam War era, and later working in security.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette Townsend and former wife Carol Elaine Kremer Townsend.
He is survived by his son, William C. III (Christi) Townsend of Beaver Falls; daughter Renee (Robert) Swecker of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren Drew Swecker of Lisbon, Ohio; Tara Swecker of Lenexa, Kansas; William D. (Kinsey) Townsend of Orlando, Florida; Daniel Townsend of Sewickley; and Margaret Townsend of Beaver Falls; brother Robert Townsend; and sisters Sharon Peterson, Connie Warmouth, and Carol Walker.
Private interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville.
Visitation will take place Saturday, June 4, 9:30– 11:00a.m. with memorial service at 11:00 at Hope Community Reformed Presbyterian Church, 3400 Fifth Avenue Beaver Falls. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Reformed Presbyterian Home, 2344 Perrysville Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15214.
