To better serve the needs of our community we are announcing the construction of an addition to our current funeral home.
During construction, we will remain open to conduct services and serve the community.
On September 5, 2014 we selected Alcon Building Systems, of New Castle for our 3,200 square foot addition. The addition will be on the site of the former Kenneth & Lauretta “Red” McConahy residence. This project should be completed by the end of January 2015.
The addition will include an additional visitation room/chapel, arrangement offices, larger selection room, additional restrooms, and the Expressions of Sympathy Store ( a place to purchase unique items that can be used to express your sympathy to a family.) http://www.hillandkunselman.com/merchandise/index.php
The addition will be entirely handicap accessible from the current funeral home and additional outside entrances.
Below you will see project pictures showing the depth of constructions and progress to completion.
When the addition is completed we start the second phase of our expansion. A new larger hospitably room will be relocated in the current part of the funeral home. With the addition and improvements we hope to serve the community for years to come.
With a matter this important, wouldn't you want to deal with someone, locally owned?
We opened our funeral home on September 29, 2000. We are a locally owned funeral home. Our facility offers the convenience of being one level with no steps or ramps. We are located minutes from the PA turnpike and route 60, Greater Pittsbugh Area, or any of the surrounding communities.
The building was designed and built to have a soothing effect for the area families we serve. The elegantly decorated funeral home welcomes the community with a warm glow of a burning fireplace and professional, caring service. The beveled leaded glass doors and floral tapestry carpeting enhance the hospitality, which surrounds you upon entering the newly constructed facility.
We offer two large, beautifully appointed visitation rooms with peaceful colorings of teal, cream and mauve. The cathedral ceilings with brass chandeliers afford the families spacious accommodations to graciously receive family and friends.
We also offer a coffee room to afford the families an opportunity to take a break and get refreshments, if desired, during the visitation.
Acknowledging that this valley is rich with history and memories of days gone by, we have a china buffet used to display local historical items. Our collection keeps growing,as many local families bring in items to donate for our display.
