Frank S. Matsukas  

Patterson Township

Frank S. Matsukas, 87, of Patterson Township, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

Born December 23, 1931 in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late Stephen and Jane Giannakos Matsukas.  He was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School and he obtained two degrees from Geneva College.  His first degree was in Business Administration and the second degree was in Industrial Engineering Management. Frank served two years in the U.S. Army Audit Agency.  He retired from Crucible Steel/Colt Industries in Midland with 30 years of service. At the time of the plant closing in 1982 he was the General Sales Manager and Director of Marketing.  He then established his own company, Steel Marketing and Management, Inc. which he had for the next 22 years, retiring in February 2004.  He was a founding member of St. John the Evangelist Orthodox Church in Beaver Falls. He served as a Patterson Township Commissioner, he also served on the Patterson Township Municipal Authority Board, Patterson Township Recreation Board, Civil Service Board, and he had served as President of the Beaver Falls Carnegie Library.  He was a member of the Beaver Falls Elks B.P.O.E. No. 348 and the Ellwood-Parian Lodge No. 599.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Roberta “Bobbie” Stewart Matsukas, three children and their spouses, Connie and Glenn Grosick, Florence, SC, Paul and Karen Matsukas, Edinburg, PA, Carol and Joe Giocondi, Ft. Mill, SC, nine grandchildren, Benjamin, Rachel, Abigail, and Joshua Grosick, Nicholas and Jessica Matsukas, Andrew, Anthony, and Dante Giocondi, and his sister-in-law, Mary Matsukas Whan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Nicholas Matsukas, his grandson, Dominic Joseph Giocondi, and a special niece Tula Matsukas.

Friends will be received in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home,, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill on Monday, April 1 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. with Father Christopher Davis, followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist, 1501-8th Avenue, Beaver Falls.  Burial will follow the service in the Beaver Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to St. John the Evangelist Orthodox Church, 1501-8th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010, or to Tiger Pause, P.O. Box 34, Beaver Falls, PA, 15010  or the Carnegie Free Library, 1301-7th Avenue, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.

The Ellwood-Parian Lodge No. 599 will conduct a service on Monday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
